Stefan Cassomenos

Melbourne pianist and composer Stefan Cassomenos studied with Margarita Krupina from age four, and then with Stephen McIntyre whilst on scholarship at the University of Melbourne. Stefan began performing internationally at age ten, and gave the premiere of his own first piano concerto with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra at age sixteen. He now gives frequent solo recitals around Australia to wide critical acclaim, and he has performed throughout Europe and Asia. In 2012, he was a finalist in the Rhodes International Piano Competition. He has won prizes in national piano competitions, and international chamber music competitions.

Stefan’s compositions are regularly commissioned and performed throughout Australia, and have received performances by the Symphony Orchestras of Melbourne and Adelaide. He is also active as a conductor, and as an artistic director of various festivals, projects and collaborations.

Playing a wrong note is insignificant but playing without passion is unforgivable.
