A musician of „a dazzling and rare intelligence” (Le Devoir), French pianist Rémi Geniet was propelled to international attention as laureate of numerous competitions, notably as 2nd prize-winner of the 2013 Queen Elisabeth International Piano Competition at 20 years old. In 2015, he was awarded first prize at the prestigious Young Concert Artists International Auditions in New York.

Rémi Geniet performs internationally with orchestras including the Belgium National Orchestra, Saint Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestre National d’Île-de-France under conductors such as Marin Alsop, Okko Kamu, Edo de Waart, Thomas Sanderling and Yoel Levi.

He is regularly invited to the most important French series and festivals and also performs at outstanding international concert halls including Carnegie Hall (Zankel Hall) and Konzerthaus Berlin as well as festivals. On the occasion of the celebration of Beethoven’s 250th birthday, he gave at the Auditorium de Radio France a particularly noted performance of the Diabelli variations.

Highlights of the 2022-2023 season include a return to Hong Kong to perform with the Hong Kong Sinfonietta and in recital with Aylen Pritchin, a recital at the prestigious Yokohama Minato Mirai Hall’s „International Piano Concert” and debut invitations to perform with the Seattle Symphony Orchestra and Katarina Wincour.

Rémi Geniet’s chamber music partners count as some of the leading artists of their generation: Alexandra Soumm, Aylen Pritchin, Aur´elien Pascal, Raphaël Sévère and Daniel Lozakovitj, as well as established artists such as Augustin Dumay.

Having studied at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris with Brigitte Engerer and at the École Normale de Musique Alfred Cortot in the class of Rena Shereshevskaya, Rémi worked with Evgeni Koroliov in Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hamburg.

Both his debut all-Bach CD, which received a „Diapason d’Or of the Year” in 2015, and his second release of four Beethoven sonatas, also on the Mirare label, were unanimously praised by the critics.

Playing a wrong note is insignificant but playing without passion is unforgivable.
